THE DAPAD FOUNDATION or The Direct Actions For the Promotion of African Development is an international
multi purpose organization with the primary purpose of promoting real and everlasting human, economic, and industrial development in Africa. MISSION STATEMENT THE DAPAD FOUNDATION MISSION IS TO EMPOWER AFRICAN PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS TO SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE THEIR
LEVEL OF AWARENESS IN ORDER TO EMBRACE OPPORTUNITIES, ACHIEVE WORTHWHILE PURPOSES AND PERMANENT PROSPERITY THROUGH
SUSTAINABLE INTERDEPENDENCE AND PARTNERSHIP, AND PARTICIPATION IN THE GLOBAL
CLEAN DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE OCO-SYSTEM. The first President of the Dapad Foundation, Professor emeritus Tokyo Institute of Technology,Dr. Kiyoshi Takahashi once said(during the Dapad Foundation Seminar at UNU in 1999): "Some twelve years ago and for 5 consecutive years I visited the northern part of Africa as a JICA expert to provide expertise for university programs design and a sub-sahareen country for curiosity. I was impressed by the rich culture and the blessings that Mother Nature has entrusted to Africa. Then I began to study things African. To date I know that Africa accounts for a quarter of the land surface of the earth and 10 per cent of its population. Yet these statistics are too general to reveal anything of the lives, hopes, riches, and aspirations of her people. The image that I had of Africa as taught in schools and the media changed drastically. For far too long Africa has been portrayed as a continent peopled with stereotypes and obscured by myth. I realized that the time for such distortions has past; and that Africa: the richest continent revealed must be conceived in the search for a new perspective. The Dapad Foundation was created to strip away the myths and misconceptions and to reveal the true continent through development promotion activities of mutual benefits among African countries, Japan, and the rest of the world" |
